This proposal explores the development of a 14–20 unit residential enclave on the Farmingdale State College campus located between the horticulture garden and the child care center. The project emphasizes modest density, pedestrian-oriented design, and architectural forms that integrate with the campus environment. Universities increasingly recognize the value of small-scale residential communities embedded within academic campuses. Houses and housing that accommodates faculty, visiting scholars, and graduate students can strengthen academic culture, support research collaboration, and reduce commuting pressures while reinforcing the character of a campus landscape. The development may also serve as a demonstration project for sustainable residential construction, supporting research and teaching activities within the college’s architecture and construction programs. As a result, the development would function as both a residential community and a living laboratory, demonstrating how thoughtful design can create
